Working with File Manager in cPanel;

In this series of tutorials, we are going to review the working with the cPanel control panel.

The cPanel can organize all your account files in folders. You can use the file manager interface to manage and manage your files.

Working with File Manager in cPanel

Change settings:

To change directory settings, follow these steps:

  1. Click on “Settings” to open the Preferences window.
  2. Select “public_html” or “www”, or select another option to open the file manager interface in that directory.
  3. Click “Save”

Create a new file or folder:

To create a new file or folder, follow these steps:

  1. In the file manager toolbar, click “+ File” or “+ Folder”. A new window will open for you.
  2. Enter the name of the new item
  3. Enter the name of the position where you want to save the item.
  4. Click “Create New File” or “Create New Folder”.

Rename file or folder:

To rename a file or folder, click on the item name and enter the new name in the text box. Press the “Return” key to save the changes.

File transfer to folder:

To move the file to a specific folder you need to do the following:

  1. Above the interface in the toolbar, click “Move”. The new file window will appear.
  2. Enter the path of the file you want to move the file to in the “Enter the file path that you want to move this file to”.
  3. Now click on Move File (s).

Copy file:

To copy the file, follow these steps:

  1. Select the file you want to copy.
  2. Click “Copy”
  3. In the copy window, enter the path you want to save the target item to.
  4. Click the “Copy File (s)” option.

Copy multiple files:

Consider the following steps to copy multiple files:

  1. To do so, hold the “Shift” key while selecting items.
  2. Now select “Copy” from the toolbar.
  3. In the popup, enter the file path
  4. Click the “Copy” file option.

Modify file or folder permissions:

To modify the permissions of the file or folder you want to do, follow these steps:

  1. Select the file or folder you want to modify the “permissions” for.
  2. From the “toolbar”, click “Permissions”. Under these conditions, the permissions change window appears.
  3. Use the “checkbox” or “text box” to change permissions.
  4. Click “Change Permissions” to apply the changes.

Delete file or folder:

Consider the following steps:

  1. Select the file or folder you want to delete
  2. Click “Delete” from the toolbar.
  3. Click on the “Trash File (s)” to confirm that the file or folder has been deleted.

To recover a deleted file or folder, follow these steps:

  1. From the toolbar, click “View Trash”
  2. Select the file or folder you want to recover
  3. Click on “restore”
  4. Confirm file or folder recovery.
